Activities & Outings

All family and friends are very welcome to attend any or all of our events.

There is a full-time Activities Co-ordinator who arranges group activities most afternoons, catering to all tastes, from general knowledge quizzes and art classes, to card games and music and mobility classes.

Our Activities Co-ordinator also arranges a variety of events and outings from Pantomimes at Christmas to pub lunches, BBQ’s and strawberry cream teas in the summer.

"I so enjoy our afternoon activities, especially when we have a jolly good sing-song!"

Pets As Therapy

P.A.T dogs visit the home regularly and give a huge amount of pleasure to the residents, who get the chance to cuddle and talk to them. These very special dogs bring everyday life closer and with it, all the happy associations of home comforts and unconditional love.

Our Wonderful Volunteers

We have many volunteers who come to our Nursing Home on a regular basis to help with our activities.

Every Tuesday we have two to three volunteers who help with bingo, which means that everyone has the opportunity to play, particularly if they need a little bit of help joining in – the residents particularly enjoy the bingo sessions and there is a lot of laughter and fun.

Knitting club is held on Thursday mornings with the assistance of three of our regular volunteers, where it is not unknown for some nail painting to happen at the same time! This is also an opportunity for residents to do crosswords and have a chat in their rooms if they prefer. Once a month another regular volunteer visits to provide an art class for residents.

Friday afternoon is when we run our general knowledge quiz and we are fortunate to have two dedicated volunteers who come to sit with the residents and join in.

Once a month two “befrienders” from St Mary’s Church Wendover come to the Home and chat to our less mobile residents in their room.

With help from another regular volunteer we can take two residents on an outing every month to the local garden centre.

St Mary’s Church Wendover also provide a church service on a monthly basis when two or three volunteers come with the celebrant and stay on afterwards to talk with the residents.

Our volunteers are always on hand to assist on other occasions such as the annual Garden Party, Spring Fayre etc.

We are indeed tremendously fortunate to have such a loyal and dependable band of volunteers who give freely of their time and enhance the lives of all our residents by their contribution.

If you think you might like to volunteer even a little of your time please get in touch with Liz Jones, Activities Co-ordinator on 01296 625188 or email her at

"I really enjoy visiting the residents at Leonard Pulham – there is always so much laughter and the experience has truly enriched my life"
